Sydney Larkin, journaliste et mère célibataire d'un petit garçon, Oliver, brigue un poste au sein d'une chaîne de télévision. Mais pour cela, il lui faudrait décrocher un scoop. La chance lui sourit grâce aux actions surprises d'un mystérieux et généreux Père Noël. Celui-ci est en réalité Cole Hauer, un riche homme d'affaires.
